“Running with Hope and Joy”

My idea for this painting, “Running with Hope and Joy” came last year when I heard about Cradle to Career and the children of the orphanage. I thought what would happen if one of the children was headed to school one cool spring morning and crossed paths with a couple of baby pink elephants. What would he feel? A sense of wonder? Disbelief? Would he let go a laugh to be heard in the heavens as he runs through the morning? Would he dare tell his friends about his adventure when he gets to school? The meaning of the pink elephants in this painting is hope and joy. It’s about knowing you are safe in your dreams. I think this student would definitely share his experience with his classmates if only to spread the fun around.

I was honored to have my wildlife art included in the 2014 auction for Fr. Henry and his children. I was excited to know that the money raised helps fund a school that teaches children the value of giving back. I like being able to help Cradle to Career as it facilitates basic needs for every child that enters the organization. I admire the focus of C2C in giving hope to the children and showing them that being born into poverty is only the beginning of their lives.
